CI-TOF VOCUS

Real-time VOC analyzer

The power of mass spectrometry in real time

The VOCUS CI-TOF is a time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometer equipped with a chemical ionization source. This analyzer enables real-time analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and inorganic compounds present in trace amounts in the air, down to the parts-per-trillion (ppt) level.

Vocus CI-TOF, a cutting-edge tool

The VOCUS CI-TOF is an ultra-sensitive and real-time analyzer that allows trace gas identification.

The applications of this technology are extensive: expired air analysis to detect disease markers, indoor air quality control, material emissions assessment, etc.

Thus, the increasing impact of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and inorganic compounds on our health, even at very low concentrations, is increasingly documented. Real-time analysis therefore offers complete kinetics, indispensable for thorough and exhaustive studies.

You said kinetics?

The strength of the CI-TOF VOCUS is based on real-time gas analysis to obtain emission profiles. The software allows you to choose compounds to follow or identify the compounds present continuously.

In order to have the best sensitivity and selectivity on all chemical classes of compounds, several ions and reactors are possible depending on your application.

Vocus-CI-Series

The VOCUS CI-TOF, manufactured by TOFWERK, is a flight-time spectrometer with unique specifications that make it a cutting-edge tool:

  • High resolution separation of up to 25,000 M/ΔM
  • Several ions available, interchangeable in seconds to promote selective detections.
  • 2 types of reactors available and interchangeable: PTR or AIM with each several ions available.

Operating Principle:
The VOCUS CI-TOF is based on the principle of Time Of Flight mass spectrometry: The gaseous sample to be analysed is introduced into the analyser and then ionized into the reactor by the ion of your choice; The different compounds will be separated and transferred to the detector more or less quickly depending on their m/z ratio. The flight time mass spectrometry is recognized for its resolution and sensitivity.

Chemical ionization also has the advantage, depending on the ion, of creating little or no fragmentation, facilitating identification. The choice of the ion and the reactor makes it possible to concentrate on certain chemical classes of compounds (inorganics, bases, acids, etc.) and to detect them in an ultra sensitive way:

The PTR reactor is a powerful system for analyzing a wide range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This allows to target various ranges of compounds with high quality results.

The Aim reactor promotes the rapid and sensitive detection of traces of organic and inorganic compounds. The flexible chemistry of reactive ions allows selective ionization with independent moisture performance, providing extremely sensitive detection in various applications with less fragmentation.

Analysis time: 1 s at 1 min (depends on reactor and model)
Configuration: 1 interchangeable reactor (PTR or AIM). Up to 6 ions
Detection range: < 5 ppt to ppmv

Options:

– expired air sampler
– battery
– field mobility option

The Vocus CI-TOF series is available in several more or less sensitive and resolutive versions according to your needs. Consult us to select the version suitable for your application.
Details of the versions in the brochure in the Documentation tab.

NB Interchangeable reactors only on the Vocus CI series.

The Vocus PTR-TOF is only available with a PTR reactor.
The Vocus B is only available with an AIM reactor.

Why Choose the Fusion®?
The flexibility of the CI-TOF VOCUS allows us to address a wide range of applications and explore complex compositions in detail. It is thus possible to change reactor and ions for better selectivity.
