EGABOX is an interface allowing you to store gases from a fast reaction at high temperature (200°C) and analyze these fractions of gas automatically in GC, GC-MS. EGABOX is therefore suitable for applications involving the analysis of evolved gases (EGA) following thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

In the field of materials and polymers, ATG (ThermoGravimetric Analysis) is often used to track mass losses of a material.

It may be useful to combine these degradation stages with a detailed gas analysis, which is referred to as evolved gas analysis (EGA). This analysis is typically performed using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS).

ATG cycles are relatively fast, ranging from 10 to 30 minutes, while only one GC or GC-MS analysis is usually within 20 and 60 minutes.

How to solve this temporal problem?

The EGABOX interface allows you to store the gases emitted by your material or reaction process in sampling loops with programmable temporalities. Each loop is then injected sequentially to the GC or GC-MS.

EGABOX is a heated housing that contains a storage valve with loops, which allow to store gas samples. The loops are filled by the incoming flow of the process or ATG at user-defined temporalities. This allows you to perform a detailed GC or GC-MS analysis of each sample loop to have complete kinetics of reaction evolution. GC-MS is the most widely used analytical technique. It allows a qualitative analysis of the sample even if it requires sometimes long analysis times (>20 min).

In order to ensure the best measurement accuracy, each EGABOX is validated for its interloop repeatability with rsd < 0.5% on the GC compound area. A certificate of qualification is also delivered to you. For your reactive samples, an inert version is available to preserve the integrity of the sample.

EGABOX is provided with on-board software without a license accessible via a web browser. This allows us to offer you a simple automated solution to set up.

The EGABOX interface is to the right or left of the GC. It is connected to the GC split/splitless injector via a heated transfer line to ensure transfer and injection of the sample without any cold spots.
The transfer line is easily disconnected in less than five minutes, allowing you to use your GC independently for greater flexibility. A second transfer line is provided for connection to your process or ATG.

If the EGABOX interface is coupled with an ATG, you can send in the storage loops times corresponding to mass losses. You start the ATG and EGABOX at the same time. The onboard automaton then manages the storage sequence in the loops and launches the injection of the loops into the GC or GC-MS, once the storage is finished.

All lines and valves can be treated Silconert 2000 to limit the adsorption of reactive gases.
The system can be secured via inert gas circulation in case of hydrogen gas leakage or accumulation.
In order to ensure that the quantities of repeatable gases are injected, atmospheric pressure may be provided.
Maintenance is facilitated: the valves are in front under the hood for better accessibility.
